The Heiress is a 1947 play written by Ruth Goodman Goetz and Augustus Goetz based on the Henry James novel Washington Square. The play originally opened on Broadway at the Biltmore Theatre on 29 September 1947, and was later adapted into a 1949 film which was directed by William Wyler, with a screenplay adaptation also by Ruth and Augustus Goetz.
