Every morning
I walk on the darkness
below Australia
and on Rebecca upside-down
on the other side
of this impenetrable earth
the first to dissect my words
no longer mine now but 
for those with a different slant 
though they were never truly mine
being like the rich
firmament of DNA
I have transmitted to my grandchildren
from a source older than our selves
part of some timeless process
of which we can discern
neither the beginning nor the end
so I should be thankful
they are now studied with care
under Rebecca�s inverted microscope
a cockatoo at her sunny window
before she goes out to walk
on the darkness surrounding me.
