NOTE: Continuing his interest in mummers, Cox produced, as the final regular production of the Gogmagog Press, a series of twenty large elimination linoleum cuts (as opposed to the nature printing he had focused on in the years leading up to this project) titled A MYSTIQUE OF MUMMERS. At the age of 80, he was only able to produce twelve sets, but the work involved in even this small an edition is quite remarkable. The ‘Mummer Queen’ is arguably the most iconic and beautiful print in the series. |
